Will WX be Another BUD?

Ok, here is the lazy part. According to a Reuter’s article, shares of WuXi (WX) did not increase as much as the offer made by Charles River in today’s trading. The lazy part is the reporter did the math for me 🙂

The reasoning in the article was investor confidence that the deal would go through. I missed a huge profit on BUD when In Beverage bought them and BUD dropped for the same reason. Going to think about this one, now…

Can You Invest in Me Now?

I have been ignoring every investment newsletter touting China Mobile Limited (CHL) until today, when I read my free copy of Motley Fool’s STOCKS 2010 The Investor’s Guide to the Year Ahead, and recalled that a friend of mine with a heavy AAPL position mentioned that a major contributor to their huge upside this year was sales in China. I generally trust the Fools to find the best in class, so if I’m going to make a play in China mobile telecom, this will be it. Ask Stock Guru today has the conservative buy at 47.79, but with the summer doldrums coming up, I’m looking at 46 for an entry point.

Ecolab Inc. (ECL)

In a recent wave of stock repurchase announcements, Ecolab could easily fall of the cheap and lazy radar. OTOH, I’m currently watching more for quick returns (yeah, don’t tell me, I know, but I need to right now), so I’m noting it here so I remember my interest when it comes up again (as I’m sure it will).

Ok,  I know Sara Lee Corp. (SLE) has many more products, but it is the only one I think of when I think of their brand, and that I sold the stock I got from their original spin-off way to early. They have moved ahead a lot this last year, and came back on my radar from my Share Repurchase news search, which coughed up several articles. One that has a reliable link is from The Street. It is probably a good long-term play at the conservative price of 12.96 on askStockGuru today, but I am going to play vulture and wait for a drop to 12 before I will give it a serious look for my short-term greed needs.

Lihua International, Inc. (LIWA)

I’m working my way through the stocks discussed in the article Top IPOs of 2009: Five Stocks to Watch. My current focus is LIWA, which seems to have a lot of disclosure for a Chinese stock. I’m looking for it to drop to 8 then pop to 10.  The Foolish CAPs have it as a 5 star, so I might get lucky on this one.

Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc. (KLIC)

Ran across KLIC from an Options Zone article. While askStockGuru today calls for a low of 6.83, I’m not willing to jump into this volatility above 4.89.

Sangamo Biosciences Inc. (SGMO)

Ok, real cheap, real lazy: SGMO tomorrow only for 5.29, then dump 2/3 of it at 6.89 and ride the rest to boom or bust. Alerted by the definitely-not-lazy Stock Gumshoe.

CAT-napping Can Cost

I set a watch for Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) awhile back at $52.  Had I bought when it hit, I would be up 22% today.

Gun Pick from an NRA Member

While I have not been an active (read: dues-paying) member of the NRA for over 3 decades, I still enjoy target shooting. Many stock pundits have been touting Smith & Wesson for a while now, and I have continued to not be impressed. But, I figure they might have the right sector, but wrong stock, so I hit the competitor’s link on Yahoo for SWHC and find RGR. My first pistol was a Ruger, and the best small-caliber rifle ever is the Ruger 22/10. Stock-wise, I like that they have 0 debt, pay a dividend, and have better margins, so I’m going to keep an eye out for a pullback and pull the trigger on Ruger. The conservative call for that today on askStockGuru is 11.35, and the Foolish CAPs have them as a 4 star.

Applied Materials Inc. (AMAT)

One from my woulda coulda shoulda category, AMAT looks good again. Maybe I will catch it right this time.  askStockGuru has it today at 12.49 conservative, but I’m going fro 12.09.

05/13/2012 Update: Going back in at $10.
