OHI, Oh!

Tuesday, November 27th, 2012

Bad state puns rule. Even if you don’t agree, you should know the market is made up of people that don’t think clearly. I’m looking for a dip in OHI to pick it up for its dividend. Course, I learned about this elsewhere.

Get a Grip on this Stock

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

I’ve always liked Logitech products and struggle with seeing the price dropping and not buying…yet. Then again, I still have a Blackberry, too.

Am I Dreamworking?

Monday, November 19th, 2012

Bought it because I like their shows and movies. Been regretting it since. Was getting ready to sell on the next pop when I looked at the long term graph and notice that they get some serious spikes about once a year. Currently at close to break-even, so figure I can hang on and try for another spike. Might be stupid, but will see.

Buy Who You Use, Especially if Reluctantly

Sunday, November 18th, 2012

Well, not always if reluctantly, since Adelphia would have been a big loss for me. I first liked Microsoft for Word back in 1988. While I still use their products, I generally prefer the older versions and hate the forced upgrades as a user. As a stock holder, it makes dollars, if not sense to the user community. The question is whether they will be able to shift from the pirate culture when that stops working for them. Meanwhile, if Windows 8 is a hit, that will be a big boost to the stock price. On the other hand, it has seemed that every other operating system is a bust (Windows 95 and Vista). If that trend follows, the price will be dropping over the next couple of years while we wait for the next versioning scheme (double-meaning intended).

Are the Crumbs at the Bottom of the Barrell Profitable?

MDLZ has dropped lately, but I see a comeback next year. Hopefully not seeing this through sugar-coated glasses.

Wouldn’t You Like to Be a Monster, Too?

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

I’ll let your imagination rattle around to see if you can catch the weird circle that¬† led to the headline.¬† Meanwhile, it looks like sanity has returned to the Monster stock price, and now I’m waiting for another pull back to pick some up.

Retiring on Retirement

Sunday, November 11th, 2012

Read a good pitch for SNH at InvestorPlace this morning. Looking at the chart, I hope to pick up both dividend and growth by waiting for the next bottom of around $21.

Groping Groupon’s Growth

Sunday, November 11th, 2012

I don’t see any growth unless they come up with some new twists. Then again, I didn’t see Amazon growth in the book market back in 2002. Keeping an eye on this for now.

Trend Spotting: LLY

Saturday, November 3rd, 2012

When I see several of the newsletters that usually churn out obvious BS start to converge on a particular symbol I have learned that the odds are good that it actually may be worth looking into.
