Going with the Flow of Ink

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

I have never purchased a Lexmark printer for the express reason that their profit model is based on ink and I hate to spend money on ink. I once bought my wife a new printer because it cost less than the replacement cartridges for her Lexmark printer (she bought it on her own).

That said, the stock might be ripe for a refill, an idea that I came across from an article at InvestorPlace. The idea of a merger is what got me to thinking :)

Core Laboratories NV (CLB)

The oil crisises used to repeat every decade, yet we are winding down on the second one in the last three years. With that in mind, I have a watch for CLB to drop back to the post crisis $40 range and hopefully profit the next time I can’t afford to drive to the gas station.

Power One Two Pitch

Friday, March 25th, 2011

Yup, I like the funny headlines. I also like this pitch for Power One at the Fool and agree on the watch list approach. This being a common Foolish theme these days, I get the feeling the Fools see the market as over-bought at the moment.

XOMA Pipeline Springs Leak, Sinks Price

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Yeah, I should write headlines for a living. My Jr High Journalism teacher would be proud. Anyway, while it is definitely a blow to this bio tech, they have a strong pipeline, so I’m going to keep a watch on them.

Looking for Some Payback on my Paycheck

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

I’ve been following Carl Icahn for a good stock buy in hopes of making up for the 10′s of thousands of dollars this jerk cost me from pushing the sale of my former employer. Right now, Mentor Graphics looks like a possible, if the price drops low enough before he screws their employees, too.
