I have been ignoring every investment newsletter touting China Mobile Limited (CHL) until today, when I read my free copy of Motley Fool’s STOCKS 2010 The Investor’s Guide to the Year Ahead, and recalled that a friend of mine with a heavy AAPL position mentioned that a major contributor to their huge upside this year was sales in China. I generally trust the Fools to find the best in class, so if I’m going to make a play in China mobile telecom, this will be it. Ask Stock Guru today has the conservative buy at 47.79, but with the summer doldrums coming up, I’m looking at 46 for an entry point.

Can You Invest in Me Now?
Thursday, April 22nd, 2010Lihua International, Inc. (LIWA)
Wednesday, April 14th, 2010I’m working my way through the stocks discussed in the article Top IPOs of 2009: Five Stocks to Watch. My current focus is LIWA, which seems to have a lot of disclosure for a Chinese stock. I’m looking for it to drop to 8 then pop to 10. The Foolish CAPs have it as a 5 star, so I might get lucky on this one.
Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc. (KLIC)
Wednesday, April 14th, 2010Ran across KLIC from an Options Zone article. While askStockGuru today calls for a low of 6.83, I’m not willing to jump into this volatility above 4.89.
Gun Pick from an NRA Member
Saturday, April 10th, 2010While I have not been an active (read: dues-paying) member of the NRA for over 3 decades, I still enjoy target shooting. Many stock pundits have been touting Smith & Wesson for a while now, and I have continued to not be impressed. But, I figure they might have the right sector, but wrong stock, so I hit the competitor’s link on Yahoo for SWHC and find RGR. My first pistol was a Ruger, and the best small-caliber rifle ever is the Ruger 22/10. Stock-wise, I like that they have 0 debt, pay a dividend, and have better margins, so I’m going to keep an eye out for a pullback and pull the trigger on Ruger. The conservative call for that today on askStockGuru is 11.35, and the Foolish CAPs have them as a 4 star.
I Like That Boom Boom BOOM
Saturday, March 6th, 2010I generally hate procrastination, especially when I do it. But now and then it works in my favor. In this case, I am catching up on emails from the last couple of months, and was reading a Motley Fool article. They mention one of their Hidden Gems picks (for free!) and I go to look into it, seeing that it just tanked from panic selling the day before. The pick is Dynamic Materials Corp. (BOOM). I have made money more often than not from following Foolish advise, and if I were up enough to take a higher risk tolerance I would buy immediately rather than setting a watch for drops and limit buy a little lower than Friday’s 14.27% drop.

Thursday, December 17th, 2009Getting That Y2K Feeling Again
Tuesday, November 24th, 2009While the anticipated disasters expected in 2000 did not occur, the burst of the tech bubble did occur that year (not much of a coincidence if you look at the roots of the IT industry). Seeing this headline
in my in box today gave me the same sinking feeling my Macromedia stock did in 2000, only this time I can see it coming.
